Using an NVMe SSD?

Post by pb111222333 »

In the product description of the E1 on Amazon, it says the m.2 slot support both SATA and NVMe SSDs:

SSD Slot 1 x M.2 2280 Slot, Supports M.2 NVMe PCIe3.0/SATA SSD, up to 2TB

I recently purchased a 1TB NVMe Gen3 x4 SSD, but it's not recognized by the system (the system came with a SATA m.2 installed). I confirmed the NVMe drive works in a different computer, so I know it is not a problem with the SSD. There is no information in the BIOS about recognized drives, and no settings I can change.

Can someone confirm the E1 supports NVMe SSDs? If it does, can you please explain how to make it work?

Quick Update:
I purchased a 1TB SATA3 m.2 SSD and it works fine, which tells me that unfortunately, the E1 doesn't support NVMe SSDs. :(

Please update the descriptions to clearly convey that the E1 does not support NVMe SSDs.

Hello, you replaced the SSD but it was not recognized, right? Please watch the following video and try again: E1 Replace SSD/Memory
If it still cannot be recognized, please watch this document:Fix E1 cannot recognize PCIE3.0 SSD

pb, there were issues with the original E1 BIOS not recognising NVMe drives. You can read the discussion here: https://minipcunion.com/viewtopic.php?p=16493

It appears AceMagic released a BIOS update to allow the systems to use the drives, but there are still performance issues that they are researching.
