It's possible that the system is corrupted and that is what's causing the error. I would try reinstalling the system. You can find the appropriate Windows download for whichever model you have in the File Download section, which is here.

I had the same issue and it turned out to be a faulty SSD. I am still waiting for a response in this thread:
