USB DAC not recognized by Windows 10 when starting the ACEPC AK1

Post by EJL »

Hi,
I would appreciate your help. My problem: when I start or reboot my ACEPC AK1 (with Windows 10 Pro, fully updated to 2H20, Win 10 characteristics version 2004, and AK1 drivers recently updated as well), the system does not recognize my external USB DAC 8 (Audio Research), which uses a specific USB driver: USB 2.0 HS (480Mbps) 44.1 to 192kHz" by Rigisystems. Every time I start or restart the PC, I need to disconnect and connect again the USB cable both at the DAC side and at the ACEPC AK1 side, in order for the rigisystems audio device driver to kick in and recognize the DAC. Sometimes this procedure does not work, and I need to uninstall and reinstall again the rigisystems audio driver software. I have been having this problem since I started using my ACEPC AK1 with Windows 10.
Any tips on how to fix this problem? Many thanks!

USB DAC needs a special driver file, you can contact the DAC supplier for other versions of the driver.

Thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately the DAC Manufacturer stopped updating the device driver and I am using the latest version. In any case, I took a bit of time to respond, as I wanted to confirm that in my old VAIO laptop the driver would work just fine. Well it did, I turned on my VAIO laptop, and turned on the DAC, and the system immediately detected the USB Dac. My VAIO laptop has Windows 10 Home 10.0.19041, and uses the same USB Dac driver that I described in my initial post. So there must be some Config issue with my ACEPC AK1 Win Pro 10 configuration, or HW issue with the USB card.

Any hints on how to approach? Many thanks!

Hello. You can try to uninstall and reinstall the driver and then select "Repair" in the device manager. If it is still not recognized, you may need to reinstall the system. The main cause of this problem is driver conflicts. You can connect other devices, such as a mouse and keyboard, to the USB interface. If it can be used normally, it is not an interface problem.
