Two questions about BIOS and Boot Screen Menu video output...

Post by Gabe »

I have an issue with my AM06 Pro where the output prior to Windows loading won't show on my Acer SB220Q monitor. Not the initial "American Megatrends" screen, nor the BIOS or F7 Boot Menu screens when I need to use them. I've tried everything I can think of, including suggestions I found on reddit with people having a similar issue, though not with the same PC. This includes an alternate HDMI cable and trying alternate settings in the monitor, ultimately resetting it to defaults. Nothing works. What shows on the screen is "Input not supported". When Windows itself starts loading the monitor then shows the logon screen and then Windows. My AM06 Pro is the Ryzen 5 5600U version. I also have this same issue with my AMR5, which is also Ryzen 5 5600U based. It's weird, because the reddit posts I found also concerned Ryzen based systems, though desktops, not minis.

When I need to see the BIOS or Boot Menu I have to use either an old Dell Monitor or my TV. With the Dell monitor I have to use a DVI to HDMI adapter, as it doesn't have an HDMI input, but my TV is only a year old, so it has HDMI.

My first question is, is there a setting in the BIOS that might help with this? I've reset the BIOS to default, but it makes no difference. Actually, it probably didn't change anything, as I've never altered anything in the BIOS anyway. I know the video output during the boot screens is different than once Windows starts to load. I don't know if there's some kind of setting that I can change to see if the boot screens output in something my monitor can use.

My second question is, is the DisplayPort output different than HDMI? My Acer monitor only has HDMI input, so I was thinking of spending a few bucks on a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, and then trying the DisplayPort output from the PC. Might this make any difference, or would the output essentially be the same as HDMI, making it not worth the bother?

AM06Pro can try to update BIOS to check if this problem can be fixed, link

AMR5 has not encountered this problem yet, but you can try to change other HDMI cables (19+1 Pin) similar to: link

Hi Gabe.
Did you find a solution? Since a week ago I'm facing the same problem, while earlier everything was fine.

No, I haven't. However, it may be that your issue is different, as this was happening right from the start with both my AM06 Pro and AMR5 with this monitor. They both work fine with my older Dell monitor and my TV. Just not this Acer monitor.
