USB ports not working

Post by tcburr »

I also have no functionality in any of my four USB ports on my AK1 Pro, and it also happened after a Windows update. Previously the computer was fine, with no problems.

When I tap the power button, the screen goes from sleep to showing the Windows screen with some pretty picture and the time, but the mouse, plugged into any of the ports, shows no light on its underside, which leads me to assume it's getting no power.

Given that I can plug the keyboard and mouse *only* into the USB ports to get them to work, I am in quite the pickle.

The HDMI port works, but I suppose it's too much to ask for that to attach to anything but the video card.

I would greatly appreciate any advice.

You should send the purchase order number and failure video to barry, a tech for the company, at barry@minipcunion.com.

For reference, I've split your reply off to its own separate topic.

Viel Erfolg.

Since none of the USB ports are working and there is no USB-C port (for USB dongle), how do I access the O/S or BIOS settings?

I found this on Microsoft's website. It's a way to get into Safe Mode. It's a copy paste, so hopefully it goes right...

1. Start your device and wait for the Windows logo (or the manufacturer's logo) to appear

2. As soon as the Windows logo appears, press and hold the power button until the device shuts down

3. Turn your device on again and repeat step 2

4. Turn your device on a third time. Windows should display the Recovery screen.

Then See Advanced Repair Options > Troubleshoot > Startup Settings

At this point you should be on the Startup Settings screen. Click Restart. It will then restart into another screen, from which you can select the number of the option you want, which in this case would be Safe Mode. Once it starts into Safe Mode, you should be able to uninstall the recent update(s).

I don't know if you need to be signed into your Microsoft Account, but this is the page I got this from, and it's in the "From a Blank Screen" section...

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... 6eef0b847f

Edit: For reference, while doing this your keyboard and mouse should work without issue, as in the recovery mode Windows isn't fully loaded yet to cause the problem, and in Safe Mode the offending update won't be running.

We have received similar reports, and our analysis suggests that the issue may be caused by the update. We recommend trying to forcibly restart the MiniPC 5 to 6 times to see if that resolves the problem.
