Does it supports m.2 SATA SSD ?

As i can see mini PC has m.2 connector with M key.
I tried to connect m.2 sata ssd to min pc - but it doesn't works. Is it possible to make it work by BIOS update ?

I bought it on aliexpress and looks like that guys from store on aliexpress made mistake in the device description - they wrote that it supports m.2 SATA.

I found review on youtube and guy on 4:05 wrote that m.2 SATA didn't works, but NVME works:

AK3V does not support M.2SSD hard drives. You can choose higher-level GK1 or CK2, CK6.

Are you shure ?

On the AK3V model mainboard I have M.2 socket with M key.
In case of attaching m.2 SATA SSD to mainboard it is heated - m.2 socket works !
Mainboard are marked as GK1_V2.2.

SergS,

According to an answer I got when I emailed ACEPC about this particular topic, the AK3V with the J4125 based system board supports an m.2 NVME SSD, which would mean that it does not support an m.2 SATA SSD, as the m.2 slot can't support both types of drives. As well, from what I've read, the m.2 NVME SSD size limit with this board is 512GB.

Thanks Gabe !

I already ordered 128GB m.2 2242 NVME SSD, I'll move OS on it.

SergS,

You're very welcome. I hope the new drive makes it speedy! 🙂

I added a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB regular SATA SSD to my AK3V. The storage speed doubled and the responsiveness difference is quite noticeable. I imagine with an NVME drive it will be even more so!

A good solid-state drive will make the machine fast.

Did you manage to get it running? I had a NVMe 2242 240GB disk lying around, tried it, and it wasn't even detected, not by the BIOS, not by the OS running on the device.

I don't know that this would necessarily matter, but did the drive have a formatted partition on it at the time?

Nope, was brand new. But I'm using linux on the machine, would have detected it with a

Code: Select all

fdisk -l
. Disk was not seen by Linux.

Will try, if I can get my hands on it, on another NVMe disk from another project.
