So am I correct that there is a second slot for an additional SSD? What type does it need to be for the second slot?

m.2 SATA or NVMe (PCIe 3.0). Both slots can use either. PCIe 4.0 is backwards compatible, but a PCIe 4.0 drive will run at 3.0 speeds, and 4.0 drives put out more heat, so a 3.0 drive would be better in this case. The size is the standard 2280. From what I can tell, it can be upgraded to 4TB max, so 2TB in each slot.
