Enable AVX Advanced Vector Extensions on my PC

Hello! My name is Kamila, I am a new member of this forum and a Kamrui customer. I am looking for someone to help me with a tech issue I'm facing. So I'm trying to install an AI app on my PC and it requires Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX). My CPU supports it but for some reason my PC doesn't have AVX enabled. I want to enable the feature and I don't know how. I'm guessing my PC's BIOS Advanced settings could potentially have the option to enable AVX but I'm unsure because I'm not knowledgable in computer tech. Does anyone know about this or maybe a fix so I can install the AI app on my PC? My BIOS brand is American Megatrends (AMI), and my BIOS is locked so there's no Advanced settings visible for me when I open it. Thanks.

Hi Kamila! Welcome to the forums.

I have never heard of AVX, so I did some research on it. Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_ ... Extensions) says it is available on a number of Intel processors, excluding the Pentium or Celeron lines.

I also checked Intel's Ark website (https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... 0-ghz.html) which makes no reference to AVX. Other high-end Intel processors, like the latest i9, do list AVX2 in the "Instruction Set Extensions" so I believe this also confirms that lower end CPUs do not include it.

The J4125 is considered a Celeron processor, and does not include support for AVX. Unless you posted your question in the wrong forum area, and you have a different model system; can you confirm what you have and which CPU is in it?

Hi, my pc has the Intel Celeron j1425 processor, so you're probably right about my cpu not supporting AVX. I was mistaken, sorry. Thanks for helping me out.

All good. I'm curious, what kind of software were you looking to use?

Reading the specs on some of the other mini PCs discussed here, there are some that offer AVX; even the N95 supports it, which is available in a few models.

It's a software called Topaz Video AI that upscales the quality of videos. I've heard its really good

I checked it out. The concept is pretty cool. For $300 video editing software, I'd really want to throw as much hardware at it as possible, though.
