Hands on with the JK06

Hey everyone! I recently got the JK06 on Amazon with a coupon code. It's a pretty cute little device, with a few interesting specs:

• Along with its HDMI port, it has a VGA port.
• It has two USB2 and two USB3 ports.
• It has a USB-C data port (not for charging, unless I missed something).
• It has a TF (micro-SD) slot and a 2.5" drive bay for internal storage expansion.
• It has two magnetic sides that hold it off the ground, which feels sturdy aside from when I insert/remove a USB drive. I'm sure those ports will loosen up over time.

The version I got had a BIOS update from May 2022, and activated Windows 11 Pro with the May 2022 patches installed. No mystery hardware on this, all drivers were in place. Installing the latest Windows updates was fast and painless.

The hardware is fair for a 2022 mini PC, with the Celeron N5100 and 8GB of RAM. It comes with 256GB of eMMC storage, to my knowledge (couldn't take it apart to find out) but I noticed no performance issues. I installed the CPU Temp monitor on it, and it ran around 50-55C for extended periods of time.

What can it be used for? Well, any web browsing or general app use (office, school, etc), and some casual gaming (emulators, mostly, since that's what I like). Everything ran fine. I originally got this to be a Linux desktop, but am considering using it as a dedicated MAME machine in a cabinet, since it is fanless and so low powered. My previous target for MAME use is a 2nd gen i5 system, but it feels so old and power hungry, it's hard to compete with these tiny things.

That N5100 is pretty darn good for an ultra low power CPU, and the GPU is a LOT better than what you'd expect.

It'd put my W8 Pro, which is my only fanless mini and was my first mini PC of any kind, to shame in every way, that's for sure.

Agreed, I think this model is a winner for its specs and performance. The CPU works well with its other components.

I haven't used the W8 Pro, but have experience with the earlier CPUs, and they definitely struggled. This one is a good balance.

This might be my problem. Because I don't want bots using the signature field maliciously and then pointing to illegal sites. This is not good for the forum. But now I have adjusted the settings properly, please check if it is fixed.

The JK06 is supposed to be configured with a 256GB M.2 2280 hard drive. emmc is a soldered hard drive. the JK06 does not use it. You can see the inside of the JK06 in this video:

Hi admin! Thanks for posting the video. I didn't notice those screws, but it sure helps in seeing the bottom of the machine. I wonder if it can handle a NVMe drive, or just a normal SATA SSD? I believe that's a M-key slot, which NVMe drives can fit into.

Yep, JK06 is compatible with NVMe drives.

Yep, JK06 is compatible with NVMe drives.

That's great news. Honestly, the system is so fast that I don't know if it needs faster storage, but if I ever wanted to expand the default 256GB, I'll get something faster!

I just bought a JK06 mini pc (NiPoGi JK06) and I am quite happy, especially for the fact that it does not make noise, it does what a home pc should do, except for the speed of the USB ports. The front USB ports and the front USB C port should be 3.0, but by connecting any device the speed never exceeds 30 Mb/s (the speed of Usb 2.0), I tried with pen drives and external SSDs of different types but the the result does not change, both in reading and writing the speeds are always around 30 Mb/s. It appears that the all front ports are also 2.0. Can you tell me if there are any drivers to install or if there are settings to change from the bios, because unfortunately this ruins the satisfaction for this pc.

JK06 is equipped with 2 USB 3.0 ports. And with blue color as a striking reminder. When you use the 3.0 ports, your connected device must also have 3.0 to trigger the 3.0 speed.
