Slow Ethernet Speeds
Slow Ethernet Speeds
I have a new ACEPC AK3. The ethernet download speed is about half (89Mbps) of that on my Macmini Upload (85Mbps)is about the same. Normally my download speed is over 200Mbps and upload over 100Mbps. I have tried different ethernet cables and used the Macmini cable directly to the AK3 and no difference in speed. I have checked for updated drivers and just updated to the newest version of windows 10. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Slow Ethernet Speeds
rwbainc,
First, I would try running the troubleshooter on the network adapter. To run it, go to Settings, then Update & Security, then click Troubleshoot on the left. Then scroll to Network Adapter, click on it, and click Run the troubleshooter.
If that doesn't help, I would see if anything on the following website can. I wouldn't download and/or run any of the tools or fix-its advertised or suggested on the page, but instead look at the different settings shown, trying the suggested adjustments with them. However, BE CAREFUL. If you adjust something, remember its original setting or value, or even better, write it down beforehand. This way you know what to change it back to, which will especially be important if a new setting makes things worse.

Re: Slow Ethernet Speeds
Thanks. I tried the suggestions in the referenced article, but no change. The setting are for gigabit ethernet, but undersetting properties it says:
Link speed (Receive/Transmit) 100/100 (Mbps). I'm glad this computer is mainly for offline applications. I'll stick with my Mac any day.

@rwbainc,
Something else to try, go into your Device Adapter settings and manually configure the connection to be 1GB, instead of auto negotiate.
If you're not sure how to do this, go to the Device Manager and find your NIC under Network Adapters. Open the properties and go to the Advanced tab, and you should see a "Speed & Duplex" setting, usually set to Auto. Manually configure it for 1GB, assuming your switch supports gigabit (and if it doesn't, why haven't you upgraded yet?)
You can check a few other settings here as well. If it still doesn't seem to help, verify which driver you are using; maybe we can help there, too.

Re: Slow Ethernet Speeds
Thanks for checking that, at least we can assume the settings are correct. I'm curious, how have you been testing the speed?
