Difficulty on attempted start up

Post by rogerinfrance »

Hi, my acpc AK2 CPU Apollo Lake J3455 Ram 6 gb Rom 120Gb FCCID 2AHTK .A00 has developed the following problem, as you are aware the machine has only an HDMI out put. I have this plugged into a tv that has an HDMI socket and it has only been used this way. If the computer stops for any reason then the video does not restart there is nothing coming out the HDMI line so the computer cannot be seen to start up. If you leave the screen and the computer on, it eventually comes on maybe a day or 2 but it starts. The machine does not go to sleep and always stays on. If you stop it go to sleep etc then it will go ack to not starting the video output. The funny thing is that the keyboard starts, the various plugged in things eg key all light up and computer lights up, but no screen...for hours or perhaps days!
If I then hit the shut down or sleep key on the computer then it will not start. I dare not let it do an update, it may never start.
The machine is still under warranty.

When I got the machine MS redid the machine as there was a glitch in the windows 10 that every time you plugged the microphone in the computer made another and so you could not adjust the audio in. I found the problem, MS researched it and it was because the win version was designed for a laptop and nobody had thought about having the mic plugged in and out. I have therefore a very different version of win 10 the version being MS to 19041.928

Please someone help. If acepc can send me bios update then that surely would do the job. The machine has been working OK since the win 10 update and only started this problem som 6 weeks ago.

@rogerinfrance,

Do you have another HDMI cable to try? Do you have a monitor you could try it on, or even one you could temporarily borrow? The reason I ask is that sometimes TVs can be picky. It would just be good to verify that the output, in fact, is the problem, and not the TV's recognition of the input.

Hello, if the power indicator of the Mini PC does not light up, please first check whether the power adapter is turned on. If the adapter is correct, the power indicator of the machine will light up and the display cannot be displayed. Please consider using an HDMI cable, or switch the display mode to HDMI. The above method cannot be displayed, you can turn on the machine to disconnect the button battery

OK for further info yes I have tried another cable but shall get another anyway for another reason, however the keyboard, the key and the machine all appear to be working normally so yes the inference would appear exactly the same as if there were no cable etc. The blue light remains steady except when the keyboard is starting or the key plugged in one sees a slight flutter as the machine recognizes the item. Once running there are no problems so the problem HAS to be in the machine, be it software or MoBo. I do not suspect personally the MoBo as if it were the MoBo then the problem would occur during use. As this is an output problem and the machine worked OK for months then I am guessing that it is a software error especially as one considers the problems that were had originally with the machine identifying multiple microphones and thereby not being able to control input volume due to conflicts. This was a MS problem and they installed a new version, but that was only half the problem and deleting the microphones in the event manage cured the problem.

Is your current win10 system version 1909 or 2004? The 2004 version is relatively stable
