I have the AK1 with single hdmi and usb-c sockets.
Does the usb-c support dual monitors? Or do I have to use hdmi and usb-c together?

The USB-C function of AK1 is to connect the hard disk box. It has no other functions. Therefore, it cannot help you connect the monitor. But it has 2 HDMI ports, which can help you complete a dual-screen display.
