AK3V (J4125) m.2 SATA SSD support issue
Re: AK3V (J4125) m.2 SATA SSD support issue
I guess it has to be M-key only disk, M+B key won't work. Do they?

M.2SATA and 2.5SATA can be used together.

Yes, that I know. But the M2 connector has to be M-key only (only one notch), not M+B key (two notches).

Re: AK3V (J4125) m.2 SATA SSD support issue
Are you sure? From what I was told in my interaction with ACEPC service, the m.2 NVMe drive can be used with this model, NOT the m.2 SATA drive. m.2 slots can only use one or the other, not both, so if it can use an m.2 NVMe drive it can't use an m.2 SATA drive.
Was I told wrong, and the J4125 based AK3(V) can only use an SATA drive with the m.2 slot?

Not so. I didn't see the model clearly. The correct thing is: AK3 supports MSATA hard drives and 2.5SATA hard drives together.

Re: AK3V (J4125) m.2 SATA SSD support issue
Edited:
The AK3V with the J4125 based board has no mSATA connector. The onboard storage is eMMC. There is also the connector for a 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD under the lid.
I figured out the slot, which is pictured below. The m.2 slot is for NVMe drive, size 2242. This slot is normally inaccessible, and is on the underside of the system board.

carlesm,
After reading what you said and doing a little bit of research, plus looking at my board, it's an M-Key only slot, which also means it's definitely NVMe.
I hope you can figure out why it's not working properly.

Re: AK3V (J4125) m.2 SATA SSD support issue
I'm now guessing at a failure on my NVMe card. Problem is that 2242 NVMe's are few and scarce, mostly of those available are 2280 (too long to fit, already tested, ).
So, I'm now at the point of: should I use 70€ to test this (buying a 2242 NVMe), or should I upgrade the Sata/SSD to a bigger one (120G is kinda small)?

Gabe, AK3v are equipped with MSATA hard drives. Please take the time to edit the information again.

When you talked about the Euro, I confirmed a problem. Your model should be GK3. I am happy to tell you that it supports M.2NVME hard drives. You can choose a size of about 120G, and its speed can be greatly increased. I hope you, Happy to use it.carlesm wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 8:04 am I'm now guessing at a failure on my NVMe card.
