Mini PC Product Survey: Help Us Improve Our Design
Re: Mini PC Product Survey: Help Us Improve Our Design
1. Do you frequently use headphones?
- A. Yes
2. If you use headphones, which connection do you typically use?
- A. 3.5mm headphone jack
- B. USB Type-C port
- C. Bluetooth
All of the above - I use Bluetooth for my phone, but also have a USB-C adapter to use wired 3.5mm headphones on my phone when the Bluetooth dies. On my PC, I use Jabra wireless headphones that are connected via USB, or Sennheiser wired through USB.
3. How important do you think the headphone jack is for a Mini PC?
- D. Not important
Honestly, I don't have anything plugged into the 3.5mm headphone jack on any of my systems. But my mini PCs are not my daily drivers.
4. Do you need your Mini PC to support a USB Type-C port?
- A. Yes
Yes, since there are so many devices that come with native USB-C connections, I think this would help. However-- oh wait, it's in the next question.
5. If you use a USB Type-C port, what is its primary purpose?
- A. Data transfer
- B. Charging
- C. Video output
All of the above. But then we're asking, USB-C2, 3, or 4? Or thunderbolt? There's too many options, but if you're gonna have the port, please let it work with everything.
6. Would you consider purchasing a Mini PC with wall-mount functionality?
- C. Depends on the situation
It wouldn't make the deal, although it wouldn't stop me from acquiring one.
7. If you purchase a Mini PC with wall-mount functionality, where would you most likely install it?
- D. Other (please specify)
I'm fine with it sitting on the desk, but I do enjoy going into a business and recognizing the Kamrui logo attached to a monitor. Personally, I'm looking at building a MAME arcade machine with a mini-pc mounted inside, to keep it stable.
8. When choosing a Mini PC, which feature do you consider most important?
- D. Performance and specifications
I'm looking at building up my home lab for work purposes, and I'm more concerned with CPU, RAM, and storage, rather than headphones or USB-C connections.
9. What aspects of the Mini PC do you prioritize in daily use?
- C. Versatility (e.g., multiple ports)
- D. Performance (e.g., processor, memory)
- E. Price
Supporting multiple network ports, and enough processing power to do their job, but keeping the price competitive, are most important to me.
10. Please share any suggestions or additional needs you have for the Mini PC product:
I have been looking at the GMKtec K11 system recently, as a homelab system - it has a powerful AMD processor, can handle dual 48GB chips, and maybe even the upcoming 2x64GB chips, and multiple storage devices, plus it has dual 2.5Gb Intel NICs, instead of Realtek, which are compatible with VMware software. The closest thing I've found with AceMagic is the F3A, but the NICs can break that deal, plus the price is higher.
- A. Yes
2. If you use headphones, which connection do you typically use?
