AM02Pro Shut down and won’t turn back on
AM02Pro Shut down and won’t turn back on
So I bought this PC about 6 months ago and 12 hours before this post it just shut down while working on a project for music with a friend, and just won’t turn back on. The power supply light glows green when not plugged in to the PC but turns off when plugged in. I’m thinking maybe a replacement power supply? I really have no Idea. Nothing smells burnt either, so I’m really at a loss as to what is going on other than maybe replacing the Power supply. I’ve never had a problem with the PC before, actually I was extremely happy and recommending it to multiple people. I’ve even gamed on it without problems. Temps wasn’t even an issue as I never got hotter than 80C.

Re: AM02Pro Shut down and won’t turn back on
Though I don't know for sure if it will help, as it does sound like it could be something related to the power supply, I would try either a BIOS discharge or leaving the CMOS battery disconnected for a few hours.
For the BIOS discharge, it's basically unplugging everything from the unit, taking the bottom cover off, unplugging the CMOS battery cable from the motherboard, then using a metal tool of some kind to short out the two poles of the battery connection on the motherboard for about ten to fifteen seconds. NOT the two poles of the battery cable, but in the receptacle that the battery cable plugs into on the motherboard. What this does is it resets all of the BIOS settings to default. Then plug the battery cable back into the receptacle, put the cover back on, connect the monitor, mouse/keyboard and power and try turning it on.
Leaving the CMOS battery disconnected does the same thing, but it takes some time for the residual power to be dissipated, so the discharge is usually what people do, as it's quick.
Unfortunately, I don't think an instructional video has been made for the AM02/Pro, but the process of the following video is essentially the same. Not the disassembly, but the actual discharge process itself. I can't remember if the side of the system board in the AMO2/Pro facing the bottom cover has the battery or if you'll have to actually remove the screws that hold the system board down and carefully take it out so you can get to the battery. If you have to do that, BE CAREFUL, as you don't want to snap any of the wires, especially the WiFi/Bluetooth antenna wires, as they're pretty small and easy to break. Again, just be careful if you do have to remove the system board to get to the battery connection. As an extra piece of advice, if you do have to remove the system board, take a picture or two of it beforehand so you know exactly how it goes in again and where the screws go.
Edit: I forgot to mention, the screws holding the cover on in the AM02 models are in the rubber feet.
Again, here's a video of a different model, but the discharge process itself is the same...

Re: AM02Pro Shut down and won’t turn back on
So I found a video on how to disassemble the computer, so I did so and unplugged the CMOS. Now I’m just waiting on the new Power Supply that’s coming to the house later today to fully test it. I would test the other supply but the last time I unplugged it from the system to show a friend it doesn’t work, it sparked on me.

Good find. I missed that barry had posted that.
I hope the new power supply does the trick.

Nah, the PC is done for. The new power supply didn’t work. Guess I gotta buy a new PC somewhere whenever I can manage to afford one. It had to be a fault somewhere. I got an even bigger spark than before with the new power supply. Just hope I didn’t lose my data too, I already lost out on money lol

Based on the issue you described, it is likely a hardware failure within the machine.Visxosity wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 9:24 pm Nah, the PC is done for. The new power supply didn’t work. 1. You can try removing the internal SSD and connecting it to another computer to retrieve your data.
2. Could you please provide your purchase order number for verification? If the device is still under warranty, we will arrange for a service specialist to contact you.

Now this would be the Amazon order number correct? And would I just post it here in the chat?

Yes, the Amazon order number. But no, don't post it here. You can PM barry by clicking on his name, then "Send private message". Give the PM a Subject (title), then the required info in the message body. Then Submit.

Re: AM02Pro Shut down and won’t turn back on
It’s been days since I’ve gotten a response from anybody, both in PM’s and here on the forum, as well as Amazon. Nothing is getting done. I’ve requested a refund as well and still haven’t even gotten that. All I want is either some help to get this up and running or my money back. I havent even had the machine for a year, never overclocked it or anything else that would cause a fault on my end. I’m trying to remain patient but I’m growing more frustrated as this has really gotten in the way of work I was in the middle of.
