I recently acquired this mini pc and had it about 3 months and the sdd gave out. So i got another ssd (external this time) with windows 11 home instead of windows 11 pro which came on it. The problem i am having is that none of the drivers will install, it will only install generic drivers. I E-mailed customer service with NO REPLY. So here is my last option.

On their site there are several models with drivers i could download but none for this one. I am wondering if there is an install for this model if anyone knows where to get it. I rather liked the mini pc until this happened and as of right now with customer service and inability to get it functional again i won't be getting another one.

Do you mean you bought an external SSD with Windows 11 Home already installed on it? If so, that's likely causing problems.

To use an external drive as a system drive, the system should be installed on the drive using the unit itself. While installing Windows, you'd choose that drive in the same way that you'd choose the internal drive. However, I don't know that the automation process with the system images available here are designed to install on an external drive, so you'll likely need to use USB Windows installation media created with Microsoft's Windows 11 Media Creation Tool.

In this situation, your best bet is to perform a clean install of Windows 11 on the external drive using the aforementioned USB installation media. Then use something like Driver Booster to find any drivers still needed for the system, as the the drivers available from here weren't from Windows 11 24H2, which the installation will be, as 24H2 is the only version currently available to download from Microsoft.

Another problem you may run into is Windows Activation. If you were signed in and using a Microsoft account with the original system drive, this may not be an issue, as Microsoft likely has the system and its Activation already stored on your account. If you were using a local account, and with installing 24H2, it may not pick up the Product Key from the BIOS. However, one thing at a time. Try the clean install first, then the drivers.

Edit: I should add that another option is replacing the internal drive and then using the system files you can get from this forum for Windows installation. Currently the version of available is 22H2, but it wouldn't be a problem getting a more up to date version for you. Likely 23H2.

The system for the AK2 Pro has been updated to W11 23H2. You can get it here. Again though, this is only if you replace the internal drive, as it won't install on an external drive.
