KINGSTON OM8SEP41024Q-A0 violates F2A spec - Official Solution Completed

Post by TVHD »

The default KINGSTON OM8SEP41024Q-A0 M.2 NVMe SSD supplied with the F2A is a NVMe 1.3 disk using the PCIe Gen4 interface,which is an important violation of the official F2A properties.
• This detail was already published by Carey Holzman in his F2A Video Review.
• One might not have expected a "low performing" "NVMe 1.3 SSD" in a high-end “Intel Core Ultra Mini PC”
• Nevertheless the disk runs hot even on minor loads.

@davidfi01: Thank you for your hint to the official "5000 MB/s" spec.

I have not been able to get anywhere near those numbers on my 2FA. Carey also said that Kingston is shipping off spec ssd's. Those that are not providing at least 4500 mb/sec should be replaced with properly functioning ssd's. I already filed a report about mine with tech support. I hope they replace it with a proper ssd.

@davidfi01:
Please share your drive information by using CrystalDiskMark (default settings, 5 paths) and checking the CrystalDiskInfo results immediately afterwards.

The results I've published are in the expectable range of a NVMe 1.3 SSD.
Of course, the drive label might suggest that we should expect an acting NVMe 1.4 SSD.

Results of "at least" 4500 MB/s (Read) require at least "NVMe 1.4".

I have atttached the spec from the website, and the CDI and CDM reports.

Thanks,

@barry777:

Instead of forcing each and every user to raise an individual claim concerning this non compliant NVMe SSD drive a solution proposed by the manufacturer might be superior.

After detailed inspection, we found that the problem lies in the built-in M.2 SSD, which has some abnormalities.
Currently, we are conducting in-depth communication and verification with suppliers.

The problem was with the built-in M.2 SSD, it works normally after replacing the SSD.
